Frequently Asked Questions about Renting a Golf Cart

Can I drive at night?

Yes. All of our Space Coast Carts are fully street-legal LSVs (Low-Speed Vehicles) and are equipped for safe operation day or night.

Where can I drive the rental?

On streets with a posted speed limit of 35 mph or less. All Space Coast Carts are registered and insured as street-legal Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs) per Florida Statute 316.2122, which authorizes LSV operation on such roads.

Can I crossroads with speed limits over 35 mph?

Yes, at intersections. Florida Statute 316.2122 allows low-speed vehicles (LSVs) to cross a road or street at an intersection where the posted speed limit exceeds 35 mph, even though operation is restricted to roads of 35 mph or less.

Can I take the golf cart off-roading or on the beach?

No. All Space Coast Carts are street-legal Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs) designed for operation on public streets only. Off-roading is prohibited, and electric vehicles (including LSVs) are not permitted on Brevard County beaches. Sand, dirt, roots, and uneven terrain can damage the undercarriage and other components.

Where can I park the golf cart?

In any standard vehicle parking space or garage. All Space Coast Carts are street-legal Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs) and follow the same parking rules as regular automobiles. Pay any required fees as you would for a car, and always obey posted parking signs and regulations.

Who can rent and operate the golf cart?

The primary renter must be at least 25 years old. They must sign the rental contract, provide a valid driver’s license, and show proof of automobile insurance. Any additional drivers must be at least 21 years old, be added to the rental contract, and provide a valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.

All Space Coast Carts are street-legal Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs), treated similarly to standard vehicle rentals under Florida law (which requires a valid driver’s license for LSV operation per Florida Statute 316.2122).

How do I make a reservation?

Online, 24/7 through our website. Click the “Rent Now” button on the homepage, select your desired dates and cart, then choose “Book Now” to complete the reservation.

Do you offer same-day or one-day rentals?

No. We require a minimum 3-night rental with at least 1 day’s advance notice to ensure the best experience for all customers.

What are the delivery fees and where do you deliver to?

Yes, we charge a delivery fee based on your location, starting as low as $35.

When will the golf cart be dropped off and picked up?

Delivery and pickup occur between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Rentals are booked by the night (with a 3-night minimum), and we will contact you the day before to confirm the exact delivery window. For vacation renters with late check-ins or arrival times, we can often adjust delivery to better align with your schedule—please let us know your expected arrival time when booking or during confirmation.

How do I pay for the golf cart rental?

A 50% deposit is required at booking to secure your reservation. We accept major credit cards for all payments. After booking, you’ll receive an invoice via email with a “Pay Now” button under the balance due—use it to pay the remaining amount. The full balance is due the day before delivery; if unpaid, the card on file will be charged automatically.

What is the cancelation policy?

Cancellations with more than 72 hours’ notice receive a full refund minus a $75 processing fee. Cancellations with 72 hours’ notice or less (but before the day of delivery) receive a 50% refund of the rental fee. No refunds or credits are issued on or after the day of delivery, including for shortening a rental period once the cart has been delivered. To cancel or make changes to an existing reservation, please contact us at sccr@spacecoastcartrentals.com or by phone/text at 321-477-3080.

Are the golf carts gas or electric?

All Space Coast Carts are 100% electric. Our street-legal Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs) are powered by lithium batteries, offering a clean, quiet, and enjoyable ride.

How far can the golf cart travel once fully charge?

Approximately 20–30 miles on average. All Space Coast Carts (4-passenger, 6-passenger, and 8-passenger street-legal Low-Speed Vehicles/LSVs) are powered by lithium batteries. Range typically averages around 25 miles under normal conditions (moderate speeds, flat terrain, 1–2 passengers, no heavy loads) —plan accordingly to avoid running low.

How can I tell how much battery life is remaining?

Use the built-in battery charge level indicator on the dashboard. All Space Coast Carts (our street-legal Low-Speed Vehicles/LSVs) feature a clear charge level display that shows an approximate percentage of remaining battery life. This is a reliable guide, but treat it as an estimate—lithium batteries have a relatively flat discharge curve, so levels can drop more quickly toward the end. We recommend recharging before it falls below 25–30% to maintain optimal performance and avoid sudden power loss.

How and when do I charge the golf cart?

Plug it in nightly using the onboard charger. All Space Coast Carts come with a built-in charger and cord that plugs directly into a standard 110V/120V household 3-prong outlet (no special equipment needed). Check with your vacation property for an accessible outdoor or garage outlet. An extension cord is available upon request before delivery.

For best performance and battery longevity, plug in the cart each night after use and allow it to charge fully overnight—this ensures it’s ready for the next day’s rides. It’s best practice to charge whenever the cart is not in use, keeping the lithium batteries topped off. We recommend maintaining the charge level above 50% during your rental and never letting it drop below 30%, as deeper discharges can reduce battery life and performance.

Can I drive the cart until the batteries are completely dead?

No—never drain the batteries fully. Driving until the batteries are completely dead risks stranding you and can cause serious, permanent damage to the lithium battery pack, potentially requiring a full (and costly) replacement.

To protect the batteries and ensure uninterrupted use:

  • Plug in the cart whenever it’s not in use (ideally each night) to keep them topped off.
  • Maintain the charge level above 50% whenever possible during your rental.
  • Never let the charge drop below 30%, as deeper discharges shorten battery life and performance.

What if the battery dies while out?

Contact us immediately at 321-477-3080 for assistance. Our street-legal Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs) are equipped with an automatic parking brake, so the cart will stop safely if the battery fully depletes. Do not attempt to drive it further.

To resolve:

  • If a standard 110V/120V outlet is nearby, plug in the onboard charger (use an extension cord if needed—available upon request at booking). Allow enough time for a partial charge to release the brake and enable tow mode (access the switch by lifting the rear seat).
  • In tow mode, the cart can be pushed or gently towed short distances without damage—do not force it if the brakes remain engaged, as this can cause harm.
  • If no outlet is available or you’re unable to recharge on-site, call us right away. We can assist with a service call (a $75 fee applies if our team must respond). You are responsible for any third-party tow fees if you choose to call a tow company.

Prevent this by monitoring the battery indicator and recharging nightly or when below 30% (as noted in our charging FAQs).

What if I arrive late (after the delivery window) or need to depart before pickup?

We offer fully contactless delivery and pickup for most approved locations. When we contact you the day before to confirm your delivery window (between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.), simply let us know your expected arrival time or early departure needs. We’ll provide clear instructions for a seamless, no-contact handoff. So, you can enjoy your rental without delay. (Note: Contactless options are standard in our core Brevard County service areas; confirm availability during booking if outside these zones.)
