Top Mistakes First-Time Golf Cart Renters Make (and How to Avoid Them)

Renting a golf cart is a fun and convenient way to explore Florida’s beautiful beach communities, but first-time renters can make a few common mistakes that put a damper on their vacation. Here’s how to avoid them and make the most of your golf cart rental experience.

1. Forgetting to Check Local Driving Rules

Not every road allows golf carts, and some areas have specific requirements for street-legal carts. Before heading out, familiarize yourself with local regulations, designated routes, and any age or licensing requirements. Always follow traffic laws and posted signs.

2. Booking at the Last Minute

Golf carts are popular for beach vacations, family outings, and holiday weekends. Waiting too long can limit your choices. Reserve your cart ahead of time, especially during peak travel seasons, to help ensure you get the right vehicle for your plans.

3. Choosing the Wrong Cart Size

Consider how many passengers will be riding and how much storage space you’ll need for beach bags, groceries, and other essentials. Choosing the right size helps everyone enjoy a comfortable ride.

4. Ignoring Battery and Charging Needs

For electric carts, understand the expected range and charging instructions before departure. Plan your outings accordingly, and avoid getting stranded by monitoring your battery level.

5. Skipping the Rental Instructions

Before driving away, inspect the cart for existing damage, learn the controls, and understand the rental agreement, insurance options, and return requirements.

Love these guys. Came down to Cocoa to escape the NC weather. They delivered a top-tier six seat cart to the rental house. Will definitely use them again.

Lindsey and the staff at Space Coast Rentals were amazing! We had family visiting for a week and rented a golf cart so they would be able to travel around the bay at their leisure. The cart itself was amazing. It had all of the extra features and our family loved it. Lindsey dropped off the cart and picked it up right at our door. Everything was so easy. We highly recommend them to others and will be renting again with them in future. Thank you. . . Space Coast Cart Rentals for an exceptional experience!

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. We have rented from the Space Coast team two years in a row and will use them every time we are in the area. The six seater was top notch with modern features like Bluetooth and a lithium battery. It offered style and comfort and we received compliments every where we went. It offered an experience that our kids loved and will never forget. The service that Lindsey and James provided was over the top with delivery and personalized service. You can tell that this team cares about every detail of your experience.

Excellent company and such a fun golf cart to have on our Florida vacation! We rented the lifted 6 passenger with the lithium battery. I’ll definitely rent the same model for our next Florida vacation. Super happy with the company and the fun golf cart we had!
